In our conversations at the Heller Consulting booth, the networking event we sponsored with our friends at UC Innovation and DonorDrive, and throughout the conference, one thing was clear: Advancement professionals are preparing technologically for the future.<\/p>\n<h3>The topics that seem to be on most attendees\u2019 minds fell into these categories:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>How to move off of a customer relationship management (CRM) system that no longer works for them<\/li>\n<li>What to do with a CRM system that isn\u2019t ideal, but that they don\u2019t have the option to leave due to budget or other considerations<\/li>\n<li>How to make it easier for leaders and staff at their organization to access the data they need from the organization\u2019s database(s) when they need it \u2013 versus relying on IT staff or a \u201cpower user\u201d to help them<\/li>\n<li>How to continue to get the job done when they have staff leave and haven\u2019t yet backfilled the positions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Tech tips and resources for advancement professionals<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>These are big challenges. However, with the right approaches, you can tackle them in a way that not only helps your organization survive, but also thrive.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some of our top tips:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h3><strong>Find the right CRM solution for your organization.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">If you know that your CRM system isn\u2019t doing what you need it to do, and you\u2019re ready to make a change, don\u2019t go straight into software shopping. Instead of comparing lists of software features, take a more modern approach to software selection.<\/p>\n<p>Keep in mind that <a href=\"https:\/\/teamheller.com\/resources\/blog\/next-level-software-selection-for-nonprofits\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">choosing software is no longer just about replacing one software product<\/a> with another.
